Cheyenne Mountain

Cheyenne Mountain , Colorado Springs, Colorado, the United States, is an important base of USAF. It depends on NORAD. Its official name is Cheyenne Mountain Operations Center (CMOC) , in the past Cheyenne Mountain Air Force Station (CMAFS) .

It is located, as its name indicates it, on the Cheyenne mountain whose top culminates to 2.915 Mr.

On the whole, four commands use these installations, North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD), the United States Northern Command (USNORTHCOM), the United States Strategic Command (US), and the Air Force Space Command.

The base was deactivation in February 2006 because of its operating costs and the possible restorations, but can be reactivated in one hour where necessary.

The Command of air defense for North America (NORAD) and the northern Command of the American army will move their operations with the air base of Peterson to Colorado Spring, the general headquarter of the United States Northern Command.

According to a military spokesman, the base will continue to be useful for certain activities of the American army, which will leave 700 people there when the removal is finished in 2008.

Currently, the Cheyenne Mountain Complex is used by various companies of Télécommunication like international control center their satellites.
