The family of the Chenopodiaceae is a family of plants Dicotylédone S which includes/understands 1400 species divided into a hundred kinds.
Description
They are primarily herbaceous plants (some shrubs, trees and lianas) sometimes with the succulent aspect. They are largely widespread.
In France, one can quote the kinds:
- Chenopodium , the Chénopode S whose Chénopode Wild spinach or wild spinach and chénopode distort Ambroisie ( Chenopodium ambrosioides Spach. also called epazote with the Mexico).
- Atriplex , the Orache
- Beta , the maritime White beet, and its cultivated varieties, the Beet and the White beet or white beet.
- Salicornia , the Salicorne.
- Spinacia , the spinach.
In Quebec, one calls the white Chénopode ( Chenopodium album L. ) lambsquarters (plural: lambsquarters).
The phylogenetic Classification included now in the family of the Amaranthaceae .
