Places and monuments
On the territory of the commune is the Château of Chenonceau. The difference in orthography would be explained, according to sources to be confirmed, by a Dupin lady who, being owner of the castle at the time of the French revolution would have liked, by this removal of “X” final, to mark her difference. Since then, the castle is mainly spelled without “X” final, unlike the commune, which carries this final letter invariably.
