Cheng Pei-pei (pinyin: Zheng Peipei ) is a Chinese actress born the December 4th 1946 with Shanghai. She is regarded as the queen of the Wu Xia Pian, title which is decreed to him officially besides by the press honkongaise in 1969.

She is revealed in 1966 with first film of King Hu, Like Drink with Me . Athlete remarkable, gracious (it has learned the dance as of its more young age) and good sabreuse, it shows there excellent qualities of actress playing subtly of his charms. She is essential as the interpreter of Golden Swallow in films of Wu Xia Pian: the gold Swallow and Golden delicious Swallow of Chang Cheh. Under contract with the Shaw Brothers, it turns with the largest realizers of the studio: King Hu, Chang Cheh, Luo Wei or Ho Meng Hooted. In 1971, it decides to put an end to its career and emigrates with the the United States to marry. It tries however a come-back in 1973 with Tie wa , but the film is a failure. It will have to await the medium of the Années 1980 and especially the Années 1990, so that, carried by the vogue of the Asian cinema and thanks to the arrival of a new generation of realizers who admire it, it returns in force in the productions of Hong-Kong.
