Chemnitz (región)
Oberbruck is a common French, located in the department of the Haut-Rhin and the area Alsace. Its inhabitants is called Oberbruckois.
Geography
History
Its name means in German “higher Bridge” Of “ober” (higher) and of “Brücke” (the bridge). The village developed around the bridge on the torrent the “Rimbach” which was then the bridge to upstream gain the high-valley of Masevaux, the bridge downstream being located on the Doller at Niederbruck
In the beginning it was a possession of the Abbey of Masevaux.

Personalities related to the commune
Oberbruck was marked by several families related to industry. Jean-Henri Anthès developed the metallurgy at the XVIIIe century. Its installations passed to the hands families Rosen then Broglie. At the XIXe century, the Joseph brothers and Ferréol Zeller founded textile factories which functioned until the medium of XXe S. Of the Zeller family are resulting from many soldiers of which the general André Zeller (1898 - 1979), one of the four organizing generals of the Putsch of the generals of Algiers in 1961.
