Chelon
The river Chelon (in Russian: Шелонь) is a Rivière which runs in the Oblast S of Pskov and Novgorod, in Russia. The cities built on its banks are Porkhov and Soltsi.
The Battle of Chelon (July 14th 1471) between the Moscovie and the République of Novgorod was held in the town of Soltsi and the mouth of Chelon. It ended in the victory of the Muscovites, carried out by the Duke Kholmsky, and consequently involved the annexation of Novgorod by Moscovie (1478).
