Chelidonium

The chelidonium (CH decides K) or great celandine ( Chelidonium majus ) is a plant of the family of the Papavéracées and the only species of the kind Chelidonium . It is called also grass with the warts , because its latex yellow-orange passes to eliminate the Verrue S.
Other common nouns: Major chelidonium, large celandine, bleaches on grass with the goats, bleaches on grass swallow, bleaches on grass of Holy-Claire, the Sologne, felongene, felougne.
Description
The drawn up and ramified stem reached 30 to 50 cm in height. It is cylindrical, hairy by places and the wounds let escape a yellow latex orange. The lower sheets are petiolate, those of the top are sessile. They soft, are imparipennées and notched (sometimes toothed), of a little glaucous color (especially in lower part). The Fleur S lead into ombelle to the end of long Pédoncule S. They are approximately 2 cm in diameter, they comprise 2 null and void green sepals, four Pétale S yellows, and of many cheesecloth S of the same color as the petals. After fecundation the ovary is transformed into linear capsule which can reach 5 cm length and which resembles a pod much. The seeds are black, réniformes and have up to 15 mm length.This species is very variable, in particular in the shape of the sheets and their division. One described more than 20 varieties.
Surface of distribution
It is common in all Europe safe to north where it is only introduced, as in England or Ireland.
Habitat
It pushes as from spring on the edge of the ways, in the debris, along the walls or with orée of wood. She is regarded as an indicator of Azote.
Use
The chelidonium was traditionally used to cure many diseases (liver, rheumatisms…). The juice which escapes when one breaks the stem of the chelidonium to the reputation to make disappear the warts and the horns, from where its nickname of “plant with warts”. The juice of the plant contains several toxic alkaloids but its therapeutic benefits are not proven. The Chelidonium was tested in Homéopathie by Hahnemann and its pupils.
