Cheick Oumar Diarra

Cheick Oumar Diarra was a soldier Mali in, major general, born in 1944 with Markala (Mali) and deceased the October 23rd 2005 in an air crash to the Nigeria.

Left major the promotion of the Military academy interarmes (EMIA) in 1969, it continues its military formation at the School of formation of aviation of Kiev (Soviet Union) then at the school of staff and the school of war of Paris. Returned in Mali, he exerts various military functions. In 1991, it is named Minister for transport and of public works in the transition government after the inversion of the authoritarian regime of Moussa Traoré.

In 2000, it is named roving ambassador of Mali near the Economic community of the States of West Africa (CEDEAO). It occupies the functions of executive secretary in charge with the Political matters, Defense and Safety. It is in the performance of these duties that it finds death on October 23rd, 2005 at the time of a air crash of the company Bellview Airlines with the Nigeria.

It was buried on October 30th with Bamako during a ceremony of state funeral chaired by the Head of the State Amadou Toumani Touré which raised on a purely posthumous basis with the dignity of the Large officer of the national order of Mali.
