Chavanon

------------------

The Chavanon (also called the Ramade , upstream of its confluence with Méouzette) is a French Rivière Massif Central, affluent of the the Dordogne.

Geography

It takes its source with more than 750 m of altitude in the Creuse, with the limit of the communes of Basville and Crocq.

After having crossed the pond of Ramade, it penetrates in the Puy-de-Dôme.

It joined the Dordogne out of Right Bank, at the northern end of the lake of reserve of the Barrage of Bort-the-Organ, two kilometers in the North-East of Confolent-Port-God.

On most of its course, Chavanon marks, in two sections, the limit between the areas the Limousin (departments of Hollow and the Corrèze) and Auvergne (Département of the Puy-de-Dôme).

Hydrology

Chavanon is longer than the Dordogne with its junction but its flow is of less importance.

December 8th, 1944, the hydrological station of Borough-Lastic   recorded a daily maximum flow of 85,5 m/s.

Its principal affluents are:

N.B.: (rd) = affluent Right Bank; (rg) = affluent left bank
