Chavannes-on-the Pond is a common French, located in the department of the Haut-Rhin and the area Alsace.

Geography

History

June 29th 1815, the troops of the general Claude Jacques Lecourbe, ordering the 1st body of observation of the Jura tried to be opposed to the invasion Allies, again united against Napoleon of return of the Isle of Elba. In spite of their crushing numerical superiority, the Austrian troops were held in failure by French who yielded the ground only after one strong resistance.
