Chavagnes-in-Paillers

Chavagnes-in-Paillers is a common French, located in the department of the the Vendée and the area Pays of the Loire.

Geography

Located at the North-East of the department, in the middle of the Vendean Scrap-metal, the commune of Chavagnes-in-Paillers offer all pleasures of the countryside and proximity of several important cities: the Roche-sur-Yon is with 25 min, Nantes with 45 min and La Rochelle with 1:15 min. Moreover, the commune is at less than one hour of the Vendean coast and its seaside resorts famous (Sand-with Olonne, Saint-Jean-of-Mounts…).

In addition to being with range of all the arts centres, tourist and commercial of the area, Chavagnes is easily accessible thanks to the developed highway network (RN 137, has 83, has 87), grace also to the railway axes Nantes - La Rochelle and Paris - Sand-with Olonne like with the Aéroport Nantes Atlantique, located at 45 min of the commune.

History

Chavagnes in Paillers : it is a name which goes up with the deep past of the Gallo-Roman time when a group of rustic constructions called Cabanas (or cants) probably gave, with the place, its name which was to become Chavagnes.

It is only much later, at the time of the Révolution, that the addition " Paillers" name of a village located at 15km (important deanery of formerly) was added.

Chavagnes was not saved by the Guerre of the Vendée. 200 died were victims, and it is supposed that there was much more, going until the fifth of the population of 2000 inhabitants. The rebuilding of the agglomeration and the contemporary time were marked, starting from 1801, by the zeal of the Père Baudouin, clean Paroisse, which founded religious congregations, and made build the buildings of conventual pace which we see while approaching our city.

In the Fifties, a favourable industrialization in the evolution of our Vendean Bocage started which, today, at the side of agriculture, makes of Chavagnes a common dynamics.

The private college of common was used in 2004 for the turning of the emission the Boarding school of Chavagnes, diffused the same year on the French television channel M6.
