Chauzon

Chauzon is a common French, located in the department of the Ardèche and the area the Rhone-Alps.

Geography

Small commune of Bottom Vivarais, Chauzon is located in the canton of Largentière on the edges of the Ardèche (river). Located at 4 km upstream of Ruoms, the village is built on a rock slope. Right Bank of the Ardeche (river). To reach it one borrows in particular a remarkable bridge built out of stone of the country from where one can admire one of the natural wonders of the Ardèche: the Circus of People.

Chauzon is a small village very out of stone. Its stone-built houses limestones, coming from the local careers, are blotties the ones against the others, leaving between them only small narrow lanes, making its crossing difficult. Many the Mulberry tree S, trees making profit from a shade bienfaitrice, are the vestige of a Sériciculture whose posterity made it possible to build these vast dwellings which included/understood a Magnanerie: a part reserved for the only breeding of worms with silk. The traces of an old habitat were discovered in the village and its surroundings: those dating from the passage of the Romans as well as Dolmen S testifying to a Prehistoric past .

The village dominates of the planted alluvial plains of vines. Downstream from the village, the river dug splendid meanders in the calcareous rock, creating the circus of People, considered for its climbing ways. Of each with dimensions of the village, many paths make it possible to skirt cliffs with from the superb points of view on the valley of the Ardèche. Upstream it is possible to join old Audon and Balazuc, downstream the processions of Ruoms. One can also walk on through the Garrigue of the plate of the Fats by the northern exit of the village. By this road, you arrive at the view-point of Beaussement with its cliffs overhanging the river of almost 200 meters.
