Chartèves
Chartèves is a common French, located in the department of the Aisne and the area Picardy.
Geography
Village of the Omois, Chartèves is nested on a slope of the valley of the Marne to approximately 12 kilometers in the North-East of Castle-Thierry. It is crossed by the secondary road 3 which connects Castle-Thierry to Dormans by Right Bank of the river. Attached to its neighbor Mount-Saint-Father under the name of Charmont in October 1974, the village takes again its name and its independence in January 1978..
History
The history of Chartèves, like that many communes of the area, related to the First World War, with its batch of destruction, deaths, is wounded and missings. The common one was severely damaged at the time of the various offensives which were launched for the control of banks of the Marne.
