Charonne (subway of Paris)
Charonne is a station of the Métro of Paris on the line 9, in the 11 {{E}} of Paris
The station
The station is open the December 10th 1933.
In 1008, the seigniory of Charonne was yielded to the abbey of Saint-Magloire by the king Robert II the Piles. It changed hand during the centuries. A small town developed around the castle of Charonne. It was annexed mainly by the capital in 1860.

The business of the subway station Charonne
The historical context is that of the Guerre of Algeria. The politicians of the time agree in slide on the need for granting to the Algérie its independence. Only OAS refuses this possibility. With the call of the left, a demonstration will be organized the February 8th 1962, to denounce the intrigues of OAS as well as the Guerre of Algeria. The prefect gives the order to repress this demonstration, following the example repression of the October 17th 1961. The demonstrators trying to take refuge in the mouth of subway which had been closed, eight people die choked as well as a ninth at the hospital, continuations of its wounds.
