Charlie Rivel
Charlie Rivel (April 23rd 1896 - July 26th 1983), known under the name of Josep Andreu I Lasserre as a Catalan, and Jose Andreu in Spanish, had been born with Cubelles, close to Barcelona (Spain). He was a Spanish clown internationally known in the world of the Cirque. His/her parents, Pere Andreu Paused (Catalan) and Marie-Louise Lasarre (Frenchwoman), were known in the medium of the circus also.
It began at the 3 years age and had set up the group Los Rivels with his brothers Pablo and Rene. It lived two years in a Nazi Germany, then returns to Barcelona in 1954 where he becomes a star of " Circo Price". In 1971, it appeared in film of Federico Fellini " Clowns".
In 1973, Télé Luxembourg requires of him to ensure the interval, during the counting of votes at the time of the Concours Eurovision of the Song 1973.
Charlie said that each man was a clown, but only one small number had courage to show it. He dies in July 1983 with Sant Pere of Ribes (in Catalogne), of an heart attack.
