Charles de Lacretelle

Jean Charles Dominique de Lacretelle , known as Lacretelle the young person (September 3rd 1766 with Metz - March 26th 1855 with Mâcon), is a lawyer, journalist and historian French.
It begins its career in 1789 by bringing back the debates of the National Assembly in the Journal of DEBATEs . It is put in prison for royalist sympathy of 1797 at 1799. President of the Academy of Mâcon, it is elected member of the French Academy in 1811. Starting from 1812, he is professor of history to the Sorbonne. He is regarded as one of the pioneers of the historical study of the French revolution.
Charles de Lacretelle is the younger brother of Pierre Louis de Lacretelle, known as elder Lacretelle, also member of the French Academy.
