Charles de Fieux de Mouhy

Charles de Fieux , knight of Mouhy , born the May 9th 1702 with Metz and dead the February 29th 1784 with Paris, is a novelist French.

In Paris, in 1735, he sought to live of his feather and, in 1736, he put at the pay Voltaire to send news to him what did without, to support its plays to follow its lawsuits and, occasionally, to be used to him as figurehead.

It published, at the same time, usually without name of author, a great number of novels, which were partly imitations of works then in favor, as the Mémoires of a girl of quality which was not withdrawn from the world (Paris, 1747, 4 vol. in-12), according to the Mémoires of a man of quality which was withdrawn from the world of Prévost or the parvenu Country-woman , (Paris, 1735, 7 share. in-12), according to the parvenu Peasant of Marivaux.

A novel of Mouhy is characterized by promptness and good mood from the account; it is entitled the Fly, or them adventures and facetious espiègleries of Bigand (Paris, 1736, 4 vol. in-12).

Among his other writings of the knight of Mouhy, one knows: Paris, or the Mentor with the mode (Paris, 1735, 3 share. in-12); Memories of the marquis de Fieux ( ibid 1735 - 1736, 1 flight, in-12); Tales of court ($the Hague, 1740, 8 vol. in-12); the iron Mask ($the Hague, 1717, 3 vol. in-12); Delights of the feeling (Paris, 1753, 6 share. in-12); the Financier ( ibid 1755, 5 share. in-12); Letter of an English lord written of Paris with Milord Clarktone on the disease of the king , 1744, etc

It published moreover dramatic Tablettes, containing the summary of the history of the Th3e4atre Fran1cais, the establishment of the theaters in Paris, etc . ( ibid 1752, in-8), very inaccurate work, remelted by the author under the title of Shortened history of the Th3e4atre Fran1cais since its origin until June 1st 1780 (1780, 3 vol. in -8) unfortunately full with inaccuracies and omissions.
