Charles Wright

Charles Wright is a American Botaniste , born the October 29th 1811 with Wethersfield and dead the August 11th 1885 in this same city.

He is the son of James Wright and Mary born Goodrich. He makes his studies with Yale and starts to teach, in 1835, of the schools of the the Mississippi and the east of the Texas. Starting from 1845, it teaches in Rutersville.

It joint with the American army during its forwarding which goes from San Antonio to El Paso during the summer 1849. It collects many plants which it forwards to Asa Gray (1810-1888). He is the botanist of several forwardings: at the Mexican border in 1851 - 1852, in the north of the coast of the Pacific in 1852, South Africa, HongKong, islands Loo Choo, Japan of 1853 with 1856. Of 1856 with 1867, it leads a scientific expedition to Cuba. Starting from 1868, it directs the Herbier of Cambridge. Of 1875 with 1876, he is librarian of the Bussey Institute.
