Charles Vildrac

Charles Vildrac , born in 1882 and deceased on June 25th 1971, was a poet French. He founded with Georges Duhamel the Groupe of the Abbey. The abbey was a villa in edge of Marne opened to the artists (1906 - 1908).

Its first work, Book of love , published in 1910, is its chief of work.

A price of poetry bears its name: Price of poetry Charles Vildrac.

Its true name was Charles Messager; it was the son of a former communard off-set in New Caledonia. He is poet, storyteller, essay writer and especially dramatic author: there remains one of the most important writers of theater of the years '20. In its works it evokes a world inhabited of uprooted unable to go until the end of their dream.
