Charles Swinhoe
Colonel Charles Swinhoe is a British Naturaliste , born the August 29th 1836 and dead the December 2nd 1923.
Colonel in the British army in India, it takes part in the foundation of the Bombay Natural History Society. He is the brother of the famous naturalist Robert Swinhoe (1836-1877).
He explores Kandahar with Lord Roberts in 1880 and collects 341 birds there. He makes appear many articles in The Ibis on the birds of the south of the Afghanistan and the center of the India. He gives 300 skins of each one of these countries to the British Museum.
He also gathers one of the large collections of lépidoptères of India of his time. He writes two volumes on the moths in the series Lepidoptera indica .
