Charles Miquel

Charles Miquel (1920-1945) is a fighter pilot and As French of the Second world war, having fought within the Groupe of hunting Normandy-Niémen.

Career and combat

Born the December 4th 1920 in the small village from Bessan, in the department of the Herault, it engaged in the Air force in 1939, at 18 years. At the conclusion of its training courses in the centers of Montpellier and Stamps, it accepted its first assignment as pilot with GC.I/8 , with Salon, in June 1940. Demobilized in May 1942, it managed to join the North Africa in February 1943, where one assigned it to the school of hunting of Meknès, with the Morocco.

In January 1944 it went voluntary to join the French pilots who fought at the sides of the Soviet , on the Front of the East, where it arrived in March according to. It obtained soon its 1° approved victory , 1 hunter Focke-Wulf FW.190 shot down above Orscha the June 26th 1943, but itself was cut down shortly after above Borisov. He survived and could turn over to his unit. At the end of 1944, it had obtained the title of As, and was promoted with the rank of Aspirant. The January 16th 1945, it was to find death in aerial combat above Stalluponen.
