Charles Mauron: the psychocritique one

Being based on this concept of Mimesis in literary creation, Charles Mauron proposes a method of literary Analyze in: Of the Obsessing Metaphors to the Personal Myth . The analysis is carried out in four phases:

  1. the unconscious one is expressed in work: metaphors and symbols conveys an interior reality, the mechanism of creation are connected with that of the daydream.

  2. it proves that these metaphors and symbols are found in various works of the same author. One proceeds to a juxtaposition of these works.
  3. One releases from the " metaphorical networks " who light of a new day of the topics symbolic systems " obsédants". Each work is a dramatization, a representation of desires, impulses, taboos which concern the obsessional one unconsciously.
  4. the life of the author, his past make it possible to better include/understand the prevalence of these metaphorical networks: the " thus is defined; personal myth " of the author.

Poet, novelist or playwright, the creator cannot be reduced to a ratiocinant being: it reproduces, more or less consciously, its human experiment and its art lies in its capacity of sublimation of its primary impulses.
