Charles Milles Manson (November 12th 1934 with Cincinnati, Ohio -) was recognized guilty in 1971 of the murder of Sharon Tate and four of his/her friends. It did not make itself the crime, but is the leader of the group of people who perpetrated it.
Biography
Born Charles Maddox, Charles takes to the name of sound beautiful father, William Manson. At 13 years, his/her mother, an alcoholic prostitute, rejects it. Incompetent to find a foster home, it finishes in a reformatory. Tests affirm to him that it has a IQ of 119, above the average thus. It is run away then to join his mother the same year, but she wants nothing to have to make with him. Consequently, it starts to live in the streets, flying to survive.In 1951, after a series of arrests and escapes, Manson is sent in prison for flight of car. With the end of the year 1952, eight complaints for aggressions are deposited against him. One transfers it in another penitentiary. Model prisoner, it is released in 1954. Little time afterwards, it is again stopped for flight car, but is slackened under conditions. This freedom is revoked in 1954 after it had missed a meeting with the court. It remains then in prison until its release on word in 1958. In 1959, it is again stopped for concealment of accounts - stolen checks, then once again released on word before being stopped later nine months.
Manson passed most of its life of adult in prison, in the majority of the cases for flights of car and fraudulent use of credit cards. He is also declared guilty of Proxénétisme and Viol. He is finally slackened in 1967. Manson leaves then in the area San Francisco in California and gathers a group of partisans, called “the Family” (“ Famille ”). He moved then with Los Angeles, being established first of all with his “Family” with Pacific Palisades , before investing an old ranch in the valley of San Fernando used before to turn of the westerns, Spahn Ranch. Inspired by the song Helter Skelter of the Beatles - a song actually describing an open attraction - and by other songs of the White Album , he is persuaded of the imminence of a inter-racial war and an nuclear attack, according to prophecies of the Apocalypse.
The August 9th 1969, Charles " Tex" Watson, Patricia Krenwinkel and Susan Atkins, members of “the Family”, penetrate in the house of Sharon Tate, woman of Roman Polanski, then enclosure, and kill it, like four other people (Abigail Folger, Jay Sebring, Wojciech Frykowski and Steven Parent). One of the followers, Linda Kasabian, which was supervised, obtains a legal immunity later to have brought evidence against the group.
The following day, Watson, Atkins and Van Houten assassinate Leno and Rosemary LaBianca a rich person couples Los Angeles. The members of “the Family” are also responsible for the murder of Gary Hinman, professor of music in Topanga. They are suspectés to have made other murders.
Manson leaves in 1970 an album entitled Lie (“lie”) to help to finance its defense. Since in prison it had a musician for companion of cell, it could learn the guitar there. Charles Manson was not present on the spot of the murders, but he is declared guilty the January 25th 1971 to have directed the assassins and is condemned the March 29th to the Capital punishment. This sentence is commuted to a custodial sentence with life after cancellation by the Supreme court of the capital punishments judged before 1972. During its lawsuit, it raised a Svastika which it had been engraved on the face.
The September 5th 1975, another member of “the Family”, Lynette Squeaky Fromme, tried, without success, to assassinate the president of the United States Gerald Ford.
The May 23rd 2007, the eleventh request since 1978 of parole of Charles Manson is rejected by the prison authorities of California. Charles Manson, 73 years old, is not acceptable any more with a new audience before 2012.

- It is of its name and the first name of the actress Marilyn Monroe that the singer was inspired by Shock rock'n'roll Brian Hugh Warner, to make its name of scene Marilyn Manson.
- The Downward Spiral , second album studio of Nine Inch Nails, was recorded in the house where Sharon Tate was assassinated. Besides the titles Piggy and March off the Pigs echo the bloody inscriptions left by “the Family”.
- Bloodbath in Paradise , song of Ozzy Osbourne presents on No Rest for the Wicked , milked murders made by “the Family”.
- Refusals Wilson, beater of the group The Beach Boys, had divided an apartment with Charles Manson to the 14.400 Sunset Drive in Beverly Hills.
- Chucky, headstock fictitious of a series of films of horror and had by the serial killer Charles Lee Ray, owes his name with three famous American criminals: Charles Manson, Lee Harvey Oswald and James Earl Ray.
