Charles Joseph Gravel
Charles Joseph Gravier is a zoologist French, born the March 4th 1865 with Orleans and dead the November 15th 1937 with Paris.
Resulting from a modest milieu, it is received major with the Teacher training school of Orleans. It becomes Instituteur in 1883 before leaving in 1885 to the National university Saint-Cloud. He discovers and impassions himself for the Zoologie thanks to the course of Edmond Perrier (1844-1921).
Gravel becomes, in 1887, professor of Natural history at the teacher training school of Grenoble. It obtains a license of physical sciences in 1889 and natural science in 1891. It obtains a purse which enables him to obtain the aggregation of Natural science in 1893. Under the direction of E. Perrier, it obtains his thesis in sciences in 1896 and enters to the national Muséum of natural history two years later.
Gravel is initially assistant of E. Perrier to the Natural history museum then, in 1903, assistant of its successor Louis Joubin (1861-1935). In 1917, it obtains the new pulpit of the worms and shellfish and becomes member, in 1922, of the Academy of Science (France).
