Charles IX of Sweden (Karl IX) , born the October 4th 1550, dead the October 30th 1611

Being the fourth wire of Gustave Ier Vasa (which had made the throne hereditary) it was not likely quasi any to reach the throne; however, the events made that it reached that point. Eric, his older brother, who had succeeded Gustave, having raised the nation against him, Jean and Charles, his brothers raised troops and made it deposit.

The two brothers were to share the capacity; but Jean was named king, and made turn over Charles to the row of vassal, duke of Sudermanie. Charles waited his hour.

Jean III of Sweden, died the November 17th 1592. Sigismond of Sweden, wire of Jean and Catherine Jagellon, was to succeed his/her father; but it was in Poland, having been chosen, in 1584, to reign on the Poles; and, which more is, of Catholic religion.

In 1592, Sigismond became king de Suède, but Charles assembled the Riksdag, and was made entrust the government. He had made issue in 1595 that the Luthéranisme would be the only religion tolerated in Sweden. In 1595, the duke Charles joins together Riksdag which proclaimed it regent, this situation will perdura with various adventures until 1599 when the two adversaries solved to regulate the conflict by the weapons. In 1598, Sigismond was beaten with Linköping, and capitulated.

In 1600, Charles organized a massacre with Linköping which cost the life to the principal members of the Council of the kingdom favorable to the constitutional monarchy and in favor of Sigismond.

In 1604, the States, assembled with Norrkoeping, gave to the crown of Sweden, in Charles, duke of Sudermanie, which became Charles IX. Charles IX made a forwarding in Poland, invading the Livonie, without success.

Jacob Of Gardie, general Swedish, originating in France, was happier against the Russians, occupying even a Moscow moment.

Christian IV of Denmark, alarmed, by the posted ambition of Charles IX, declared the war in Sweden and took several places fortes.en Sweden.

Charles died a little later on October 30th, 1611, leaving in heritage with his son Gustave II (whom it had had of Christine de Holstein), old of sixteen years, a war against Denmark, Poland, and Russia.
