Charles II of Créquy
Charles II of Créquy , (v. 1575 - 1638), Prince de Poix, Lord of Créquy, Fressin and Canaples, then Duke of Lesdiguières (1626) and Even of France, Marquis de Vizille and of Treffort, Count de Sault, Baron of Vienna-the-Chastel and of Turn-with Aigues, was a French soldier of the 17th century, which was Colonel of the French Guards and Marshal of France.
Biography
August 1st In 1621, Charles de Créquy is created Marshal of France by Louis XIII. It is illustrated during the Guerre Thirty Year old. It ordered the French troops which, associated with the Savoyard troops of the duke Victor-Amédée Ier of Savoy, demolished the June 22nd 1636 the Spanish army with the Bataille of Tornavento. It was killed with the combat in front of the fort of Bremen, in the Province of Pavia in Lombardy, in 1638, at the 60 years age.He had successively married the two girls of the duke of Lesdiguières, Madeleine and Francoise de Bonne. He is the father of Charles III of Créquy (1623 - 1687), soldier, diplomat and friend of Louis XIV and François de Créquy (1624 - 1687), Marshal of France.
