Charles de Durazzo , born in 1345, dead poisoned with Visegrád the February 24th 1386, king de Naples of 1381 with 1386 (under the name of Charles III ) and king de Hongrie of 1383 with 1386 (under the name of Charles II ), wire of Louis of Anjou-Durazzo, count de Gravina, and of Marguerite de San-Severino.

It was high at the court of the king Louis Ier of Hungary, in the love of the war and the hatred of Jeanne I {{Re}} of Naples, which had in addition made carry out the father of Charles, that she showed of conspiracy.

He married in February 1369 Marguerite de Durazzo (1347 - † 1412), girl of Charles of Anjou, duke of Durazzo, and Marie of Anjou, sister of Jeanne Anger of Naples, and had:

* Marie (1369 - † 1371);

* Jeanne II (1373 - † 1435), queen of Naples;

* Ladislas I {{er}} (1377 - † 1414), king de Naples.

In 1379, it left to the head an army ten thousand men to fight Venice. At the autumn 1380, the adoption of Louis of Anjou by the queen Jeanne put all Provence in agitation. The Provence was cut into two: on a side partisans of Louis of Anjou led by the towns of Marseilles and Arles, other those of Charles Duras gathered around the towns of Aix, Nice and Tarascon. Of 1382 with 1387, during these disorders called war of the Union of Aix , confusion will be with its roof and will stop in Provence only with dead of the prince in 1386.

Meanwhile, in Italy, the pope Urbain VI, wishing détrôner Jeanne Anger of Naples, incited it to negotiate peace with Venice and to walk on Naples (1381). He quickly conquered the kingdom and Jeanne flees. Otton of Brunswick, the fourth husband of Jeanne, tried to fight it, but its army gave up it and it was made prisoner. Jeanne devoted herself then to Charles, but this one, wanting to avenge the murders for André of Hungary and Louis de Gravina, made it choke.

Louis I {{er}} of Anjou that Jeanne had adopted and with whom this princess had yielded her rights, tried to take advantage of its rights on Naples. Charles furnishes his places, avoided the combat and let the enemy army become exhausted by tirednesses and the climate, and Louis renonça in 1384. He ends up having also contentions with the pope which, having placed it on the throne, claimed to dominate it.

During this period, Louis I {{er}} of Hungary had died and Charles, as wire adoptive and because Louis left only girls, asserted the throne of Hungary. Marie I {{Re}}, the girl of Louis, had been elected by the Diet, but Charles went to Hungary to be made there proclaim king in 1385. But at the time when he believed to have triumphed over all the obstacles, the young queen and her mother composed, let it believe that they admitted it as king and, later, during a festival where Charles was invited, it stopped it and massacred her entourage. Charles, casualty, were thrown in prison and died poisoned in 1386. His/her Ladislas son succeeded to him on the throne of Naples.
