Charles Greeley Abbot (May 31st 1872 - December 17th 1973) was a Astrophysicien, Astronome and American secretary with the Smithsonian Institution. It was born with Wilton, New Hampshire.
It obtained a diploma of the MIT in 1894 in the field of physics chemistry. Samuel Pierpont Langley sought an assistant at the observatory of astrophysics of the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory , and engaged Abbot in 1895 because of its competences.
He was prize winner of the Prix Rumford in 1915 for his work on the solar Rayonnement.
