Charles Gérardin

Charles Gérardin was born with Saint-Louis (Haut-Rhin) in 1843 and died in Paris in 1921. It is a personality of the Commune of Paris.

He works like clerk-traveller for factories of tapestries. During the head office of Paris by the Germans (September 1870 - March 1871), he is elected ordering 257e battalion of the National guard, and becomes member of the republican Central committee of the Twenty districts. He is one of the signatories of the Red Affiche of January 7th, 1871. March 26th, 1871, he is elected with the Conseil of the Commune by the XVIIe district, he sits at the commission of General security and that of the Foreign relations. May 1st he becomes member of the first Comité of public Hello. May 10th, during the arrest of his/her friend Louis Rossel on order of the Comité of public Hello it helps it to escape and flees with him. It takes refuge in Belgium then in England. It does not return to France that after the amnesty of 1880.
