Charles Ehresmann
Charles Ehresmann is a Alsatian mathematician , born with Strasbourg the April 19th 1905 and died with Amiens the September 22nd 1979.
It made its studies of Mathématiques to the National university of 1924 with 1927. Aggregate in 1927, it teaches then with the college of Rabat until in 1929. It continues its research, with Paris, Göttingen and Princeton. It supports a thesis of doctor d' État in 1934: On the topology of certain homogeneous spaces . Charles Ehresmann also belonged to the group Bourbaki.
Charles Ehresmann was then in charge of research to the National center of the scientific research of 1934 with 1939. He exerted as university lecturer with the Faculty of Science of Strasbourg, folded up with Clermont-Ferrand during the Second world war, of 1939 with 1955. He then taught with the Sorbonne of 1955 then, after the creation of several Université S in 1969, he was affected with the university of Paris VII Denis Diderot, where it remained until in 1975. Although having officially taken its retirement, it was part-time lecturer to the Université of Picardy of 1975 with 1978.
It was also invited abroad to teach and give conferences, with the the United States (Yale, Princeton, Lawrence), with the Brésil (Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo), in Argentine (Buenos Aires), with the Mexico (Mexico City), with the Canada (Montreal) and in India (Bombay).
Honore of many French and foreign distinctions, it also received the title of doctor Honoris causa of the Université of Bologna.
