Charles Chipiez
Charles Chipiez , born in 1835 and deceased in 1901, was a Architecte, Historien of the Architecture, Egyptologist French of the 19th century.
Teaching with the special School of architecture, one owes him of the achievements such as the building of the Professional National school of Armentières in 1887, current Lycée of Technological Teaching Gustave Eiffel of Armentières.
At the end of the 19th century, it accomplishes with the archeologist Georges Perrot a great study trip of ancient architecture with the support of the publisher Hachette. This voyage will carry out them through the Greece, the Turkey, the Egypt, the Iran, and in other countries. It there makes architectural studies on the majority of the ancient monuments, and draws many rebuildings based on the meticulous observation of the sculptures and the ruins. They publish in their return a great work in several volumes carrying out a synthesis on the history of ancient architecture, including/understanding many illustrations. The work also translates into English, remains unfortunately unfinished because of the successive deaths of the two collaborators. After the death of Bated, Georges Perrot continuously the drafting and publishes only the two ultimate works (Volumes and thousand-year-old Ve front J. - C.).
