Charles Catherin Sériziat

Charles Catherin Sériziat , born the April 21st 1756 with Lyon, was a Brigadier general French.

It ordered the 1st battalion of the Département of the Rhone at the time of its formation, in September 1791. Named Adjudant-general, it was used like such with the Armée with the Moselle for the end with 1792, under the orders of the general Beurnonville. Promoted Brigadier general, on February 1st 1793, under the ministry of Pache, it was used like such under the orders of Custine for the Armée with the Rhine; under those of Kellermann to the Armed with the Alps, and under those of Moncey to the Armed with the Western Pyrenees. It was included/understood in the reform of the État-major of this last army at the time of peace with the Spain.

It is named general-in-chief of the army of Guadeloupe, on December 4th 1801. It seizes Marie-Gallant, on February 13rd, 1802. It takes part in the May 1802 campaign against Delgrès. Party of Point-with-Clown, on May 11th 1802, it makes its junction with the major Merlen, with the Cabbage tree, the May 13rd 1802, then with the general Gobert, the May 14th 1802. At the time of the seat of the strong Saint-Charles from May 14th to 22nd, it is charged to prevent the rebellious troops of the camps of Pared and Matouba to disturb the construction of a trench and the installation of artillery battery. May 18th, the troops which are under command push back the attacks of Palermo on the Legret dwelling (the Hope) and those of others rebellious on the Ducharmoy dwelling. He dies in Point-with-Clown of the Yellow fever the June 8th 1802.

He is the brother of Pierre Seriziat, whose portrait carried out in 1795 by the painter Jacques Louis David is preserved at the Musée of Louvre.
