Charles Blanc , born the November 17th 1813 with Castrate and dead the January 17th 1882 with Paris, is a historian, critic art and engraver French.

Brother of White Louis, he is editor association of the Gazette of the Art schools . In 1867, it paints the painting the Star of the colors to promote a scientific approach of the visible one: it thus has the three primary colors (red, yellow, blue) and the three mixed colors (orange, green, purple).

He is elected member of the Académie of the fine arts in 1868 and member of the French Academy in 1876. He is professor of esthetics and history of art to the Collège de France of 1878 with 1882.
