Biography

Known under the nickname of Sir Charles , born in Leeds Alabama, it begins its career in NBA in 1984 with the Philadelphia 76ers after being last by the university the Auburn one. He becomes the major player of the frankness which reaches the plays-offs until its departure for the Phoenix Suns in 1992.

After having taken part in the Olympic adventure of the first Dream TEAM with the Olympic Games of Barcelona 1992 in with dimensions of Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, it leads Suns finally NBA. He is even elected MVP (better player) of the season 1992-93. Unfortunately, his/her friend Jordan is at his top and the Chicago bulldozers gain their third consecutive title.

After a few seasons at Suns, where the relations between Barkley and management are degraded, it is transferred to the Houston Rockets during the summer 1996. It finds over there Hakeem Olajuwon and Clyde Drexler in order to obtain the ring of champion finally. The team is talented but very growing old: the six best markers have all more than 33 years! Rockets will go until in finales of Conferences, to be eliminated by the Utah Jazz. The team does not renew itself and the results are degraded in the course of the years.

A series of wounds finally obliges it to take its retirement in 2000.

It finishes its career on an average of 22,1 points and 11,7 rebounds per match. It takes part 9 times in the All-Star Range. It belongs to the four players in the history of NBA which compiled 20 000 points, 10 000 rebounds and 4 000 decisive master keys with Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Wilt Chamberlain, Karl Malone.

Known for its frank speech (" trash talking "), and never miserly of a witty remark for the journalists, Barkley was reconverted as analyst for the television channel TNT. A notorious anecdote occurred in 2002, where Barkley comments on a match at the sides of Kenny Smith. Seeing the Rookie Yao Ming playing, Barkley is persuaded so much that Ming is a bad player whom he declares with the antenna “that he will embrace the bottom of Kenny Smith if Ming marks more than 20 points in a match this season”. Yao Ming carries out the performance very little time afterwards: Barkley will embrace in punishment the posterior one of a ass at the time of the half-time of a match (the word ass meaning at the same time " âne" and " cul" in American English).

After electbeing elected among the 50 best players of the history of the NBA in 1996, Charles Barkley entered to the Basketball Hall off Famed in April 2006.
