Charles Antoine Gabriel d\' Osmond

Mgr Charles Antoine Gabriel d' Osmond de Médavy is a French prelate born in 1723 and died in 1793.

It was, according to Jean-Nicolas Dufort de Chevigny, “filled of kindness and of kindness, with a charming voice and a pretty figure, it had misfortune to be estropié being young and had a leg of two inches shorter than the other. ”

Canon and count of the chapter of Ainay to Lyon in 1743, he was then general vicar of the diocese of Auxerre. It was then named, in 1763, bishop of évêché Comminges “being worth more than one hundred thousand books of revenues in a country where it was impossible to eat some more than twelve” (Dufort de Cheverny) and count de Lyon.

He resigned in February 1785 and was replaced as bishop of Comminges by his nephew Antoine Eustace d' Osmond.

Itself obtained, on February 25th 1785, the commende of the royal abbey of Saint-Pierre de Préaux in the diocese of Lisieux.

Under the Revolution, he emigrated in Suisse.
