Charles Antoine Coypel

Charles Antoine Coypel (July 11th 1694 - June 14th 1752) was a painter French of kind born and died in Paris.
Wire of Antoine Coypel and grandson of No5el Coypel, he is also the nephew of No5el Nicolas Coypel, although only four years separate them.
From the four Coypel, Charles Antoine is often regarded by the critics and historians of Art as the least talented.
He was however a skilful politician and he reached the highest stations of the artistic administration. He entered to the Royal Académie of Painting and of Sculpture the August 31st 1715 and was named by it director in 1747.
It was also appointed First painter of the King in 1746 and it took a big part in the creation of the School of the Pupils Protected from the Royal Academy.
Coypel was also dramatic author.
