Charles A. Alluaud

Charles A. Alluaud is a Entomologiste French, born the May 4th 1861 with Limoges and dead the December 12th 1949 with Crozant.

The Alluaud family directs factories of Porcelaine since the 18th century: its back grandfather chaired Limoges porcelain the royal Manufacture and his/her grandfather is François Alluaud (1778-1866), porcelain manufacturer is also an archeologist and a geologist. During its childhood, the Jean-Baptiste Camille Corot (1796-1875), learns in Charles and his Eugene brother painting. It leaves to Paris to supplement its studies but is an undisciplined pupil.

The death of his/her parents enables him to become explorer. From 1887 to 1930, it thus makes very many voyages in Africa (Ivory Coast, Madagascar, Kilimandjaro, Tunisia, Morocco, Sudan, the Sahara, Niger), the the Canaries, the Seychelles and the Mascareignes.

It makes important collections of insects during its voyages which it gives to the laboratory Entomologie national Muséum of natural history. He is the entomological author of 165 publications. Emmanuel Drake del Castillo (1855-1904) dedicates the to him Alluaudia of the S of the Didiereaceae. It directs the entomological Société of France in 1899 and 1914.
