Charles Maurice Tellier (born in 1642 with Turin in Savoy (today, Italy) - died in 1710 with Rheims) was archbishop-duke of Rheims and Pair of France.

Biography

Charles-Maurice Tellier was the son of the Chancelier Michel Tellier and the brother of Louvois, both ministers of Louis XIV. Intended as of its more young age to enter the orders, he studied the Théologie, obtained the doctorate in theology with the Sorbonne and was ordered priest in 1666.

Charles Maurice Tellier, whereas it was only nine years old, had become the second Commendatory abbot of the Abbaye of Daoulas, in Brittany. Provided in 1651, it gave the aforementioned abbey between the hands of the king in 1666, after having enjoyed it during fifteen years.

It becomes archbishop of Rheims in 1671 and the leader of the French episcopate with François Harlay de Champvallon, archbishop of Paris. -----
