Charles-Louis Havas

Charles-Louis Havas , born with Rouen the July 5th 1783 and dead the May 21st 1858 with Bougival, is a Journaliste French, founder of the arranges Havas.

Former banker become translator, Charles Havas created the concept of news agency. Its occupation of translator of information come from abroad for the capable national press having put it to realize of the interest growing of the French newspapers for the international topicalities, it thus decides to create, in 1825, its own company which will get for the press news chosen in the foreign newspapers and translated by its care. It becomes in little time an interlocutor impossible to circumvent. In 1835, it creates, when it starts to provide dispatches of France to the foreign countries, the Agence Havas which will become thereafter the Agence France-Press.
