Charles-Henri Sanson

Charles-Henri Sanson . (1739-1806). Wire of Jean-Baptiste Sanson (Torturer). The January 10th 1765, Charles-Henri Sanson marries the girl of a market-gardener, it had two wire: Henri-Clement Sanson, Henri Sanson. Charles-Henri Sanson began his “career” of torturer in 1754. He must succeed his seriously sick father. In 1778, with died of his/her father it obtained the letters of provision which name it executioner of Paris (torturer). He followed his occupation throughout all Révolution (1789 with 1794). He took part in all the executions (Louis XVI, Marie-Antoinette of Habsbourg-Lorraine, the Girondins, Georges Danton, Camille Desmoulins, Maximilien de Robespierre, Jacques-Rene Hébert, etc He does not exist any portrait of Charles-Henri Sanson. Its memories were written by its grandson and were collected in the books which his/her grandfather held during the Revolution.
