Charles-Antoine Deshayes

Notary of Jumièges, piqué of history, Charles-Antoine Deshayes wrote L' history of the royal abbey Saint-Pierre de Jumièges according to a manuscript of the monastery. Its work contributed to make known the monument in whole Europe.

Its work

The Gémétique Earth, or Note on the communes of Jumièges, Mesnil and Yainville; Rouen, Periaux Printing works, 1821, in-12 VIII and 87 p. Tiré with 100 specimens on plain paper and 4 specimens vellum paper.

Observations in support of a request formed by the inhabitants of Jumièges, to obtain the re-establishment of a market in their commune and to fix it at Thursday of each week; Rouen, Baudry, 1823, in-4 4 p.

Note on an extraordinary Oak called the Tank, located in the royal forest of Brothonne (the Eure); Rouen, F. Baudry, 1826, in-8 8 p. with a engraved board.

History of the royal abbey of Jumièges; Rouen, F. Baudry, 1829, in-8 VI and 288 p., with 5 boards carried out by Eustace-Hyacinthe Langlois. In this work from which some specimens were drawn on vellum paper large grape and paper from color, the author entirely redesigned the work entitled: the Gémétique Earth. Among the boards a reduction of the general sight of the abbey appears, such as it existed in 1678 and that it was drawn by D. Michel Germain.
