Charadriidae

The family of the charadriidés (or Charadriidae ) includes/understands the Vanneau X, the Pluvier S, the stilts and the Gravelot S.
They are Limicole S of small size to average (between 12 to 38 cm), with the drawn up attitude, the round head and the short pointed nozzle.
Distribution
One finds them in all the areas of the world, except the the Antarctic. Almost all the areas accommodate several species of them. They appreciate the opened habitats, as well wet as dry, those including a large variety of wetlands, marine shores, meadows, tundras, steppes and semi-deserts.
Systematic
The family is divided into 3 subfamilies.- vanellinés including/understanding 2 kinds and 25 species:
- the kind Vanellus with 24 species,
- the kind monospecific ( Erythrogonys ).
- pluvialinés including/understanding the kind Pluvialis and its 4 species.
- charadriinés including/understanding 7 kinds and 37 species:
- the kind Charadrius with 30 species,
- the kind Thinornis with 2 species,
- 5 kinds monospecific Peltohyas , Elseyornis , Oreopholus , Anarhynchus and Phegornis .
Notice
The subfamily of the pluvianellinés with its single magellanic species of Pluvianelle formerly classified among charadriidés was regarded as a family with whole share by Sibley and Monroe, of the recent studies would place it among the chionididés .
