Chapecó

Chapecó is a city Brésil ienne west of the State of Santa Catarina. It is located by a Latitude of 27° 05 ' 45" south and by a Longitude of 52° 37 ' 04" west, with a Altitude of 670 meters. Its population was estimated at: 173262 inhabitants in 2006. The municipality extends on 624 km ².

General information

Main city of the west of the Santa Catarina, Chapecó was founded the August 25th 1917. Its name comes from the Tupi-guarani xapeco which means " the place from where the way of the champs" is seen;. Located on a road junction, easily accessible since the countries from the Mercosul - the Argentine is to 160 km -, Chapecó is a strategic point of the transborder trade in the south of Brazil. Geography

History

Original context

Located at the borders of the colonial empires Spanish and Portuguese, the western area of the Actual position of Santa Catarina) was the subject of many national and international litigations.
