Chapareillan

Chapareillan is a common French, located in the department of the Isere and the area the Rhone-Alps. Its inhabitants is called Chapareillannais (be).

Geography

Chapareillan is located in the Vallée of Grésivaudan, to 16 km in the South of Chambéry and 42 km in the North of Grenoble, right under the Mont Granier, first buttress of the Massif of Chartreuse.

Localities and variations

The common one counts many dispersed hamlets. The principal ones of them are the Fen and Bellecombe, located on the road of the Collar of Granier; and the City and Clessant on the road leading to Combe of Savoy.

This territory was disputed a long time between the Count de Savoie and the various lords who wanted to belong to the jurisdiction of the Dauphins.
