Chaos Computer Club

The Chaos Computer Club , which one often indicates by acronym CCC, is one of the most influential organizations of Hacker S in Europe. The Club is described more poetically as a galactic community of the beings of the life, independent of the age, the sex, the ethnic origin or the social orientation, which try through borders for the freedom of information.

The Chaos Computer Club which one knows today is diffused in the German-speaking countries, but there also existed at the end of the years 1980 a Chaos Computer Club France.

Its goals

Chaos Computer Club is a total community, which makes countryside for the Liberté of the Information and the Communication without any Censure, whatever it is - by any government or company -, and which studies the impacts of the Technologie for the company and the Individu. These goals are also stated in the preamble of the constitution of the club, and are applied in many projects by members and friends of the CCC.

Its missions

The CCC are regarded as being a platform of Communication for the Hacker S and those which want to become it. Moreover, not only the possibilities of Technologie are studied, but also the risks and the consequences for the company. The CCC distribute the results of its investigations via a variety of channels of media and with the public events, the meetings and the political discussions.

Its history

The CCC were founded in 1981 with Berlin - there were two great groups: one with Berlin, the other with Hamburg (CCCH).

In 1988, creates for itself Haecksen, an association of women resulting from the CCC.

Regular events

Since 1984, the CCC holds every year a Chaos Communication Congress , which usually takes place around Christmas with Berlin. The same year also appeared for the first time the Datenschleuder , the magazine of the CCC.

In 1999, in 2003, then in 2007, took place the Chaos Communication Camp , a camp of 60.000 m ² in the open air, for meetings, discussions, tests, practical applications, questionings, design and redesign, engineering and reengineering, research, hacking, phreaking, and meetings of reflection and comprehension.

Some actions

The CCC became universally celebrates when it attacked the German Bildschirmtext (system Vidéotex close to the Minitel) and successful to penetrate a local bank and to divert 134  000  DM on its bank account. The money was turned over the following day.

In 1989, the CCC was indirectly implied in the first business of cyberespionage by making the titles of international newspapers. A group of Hacker S West Germans, carried out by Karl Koch were stopped to have pirated American computers with the profit of the KGB, the Soviet intelligence service.
