Chantraine is a common French, located in the department of the the Vosges and the area Lorraine.
Its inhabitants is called Chantrainois.
Geography
Chantraine is a commune bordering on Épinal of which it prolongs the agglomeration in south-west. It is crossed by two main roads bordered of dwellings: secondary road 36 (street of the Forging mills) and secondary road 51 (street of the De Gaulle General). Three forest sectors remain, cumulating 171 hectares; that of Wood-the-Duke is arranged for the leisures (sporting course, equestrian cross-country race, race of orientation, VTT), those of Louvroie and the Rounds are more directed towards the exploitation and hunting.
History
The commune of Chantraine was born in 1892, by separation of with the Forging mills. This modification answered the problems of dissension between the traditional agricultural village of the Forging mills and the new inhabitants of the districts is, workmen - to some extent of Alsatian or Italian origin - working with the Canal of the East and the Réservoir of Bouzey. It is as of on February 23rd, 1873, that the municipal council, unanimous, had asked for the creation of a commune gathering the Brushes, Chanteraine and the trench of Baths.; Blasonnement:
- Left: with the first money semi-party to the anvil of mouths, the hammer reversed of same stitching, the second of gold to three frogs of sinople lit of mouths; with the Phrygian cap of mouths to the rosette of money buttoned of azure stitching as a chief on the partition.
- the bonnet recalls that the commune was born under IIIe République, resulting from the commune of the Forging mills, symbolized by the anvil and the hammer. As for frogs, they refer to the song of the tree frogs on banks of the pond.
