Chantonnay is a common French, located in the department of the the Vendée and the area Pays of the Loire.
Geography
Commune located at the door of the Vendean Scrap-metal. Chief town of canton. Green station of holidays.This calm small town is located in a geological basin. Crossed by Mozée, modest river, it is located in the middle of a territory drained by the Lay, which crosses the commune between the Lake Rochereau and that of New Mill (important fishing).
Chantonnay absorbed the old communes bordering on Puybelliard, Saint-March-of-Meadows and Saint-Philbert-of-Bridge-Charrault.

History
In 1793, a column armed soldiers with trade is demolished the March 19th with Saint-Philbert-of-Bridge-Charrault, involving the area of a confrontation limited towards a Civil war. It was the beginning of the Guerre of the Vendée.

Events
- Four Days of excursions in Chantonnay (international event) of 1st at May 4th, 2008. Each day a different route and the choice between several distances: 12,21 and 42 km. Thanks to this event, the city received the title of " world capital of the excursion pédestre".
- In 2006 took place the championships of France professional cyclists from June 22nd to 25th 2006.
- the green Vendée (Excursion VTT) with the broken course.
- Every years, in November, is held the festival " Éperluette" proposing songs and tales through various spectacles.
- on July 13rd, 2007, one evening homage to Mireille Girard was organized with the " Banks of the lac" , with Angle-Unlucky, for the closing of this bar, high place of the music scene chantonnaisienne during about fifteen years. Several concerts, from animations and a pyrotechnical spectacle concluded this adventure which saw many local groups (such Miss Morose, Mana Murayens, Backchiche, etc) animating the best evenings of the years 1990-2000.
