The Channel of Mussel-Aa , (in Dutch, Mussel-Aa-kanaal ), is a channel of Groningue.
Between Musselkanaal and Onstwedde, the channel follows an orientation south-north. In the east of Onstwedde, it makes a turn towards the North-East. In the turn, a junction makes it possible to join Onstwedde, where was located a small port until in the Années 1960. The channel took the name and the function of drainage of the Rivière of Mussel-Aa. Close to Kopstukken, Mussel-Aa skirts the channel in order to be directed towards Onstwedde, where it is thrown, with the Pagediep, in the junction of the channel.
The channel is closed with the navigation, whether it is professional or of pleasure. It is managed by the Agence of water of Hunze in Aa' S .
After war, the Channel of Mussel-Aa was closed and the seven lock S were destroyed. In the Years 1980, one dug the Canal A.G. Wildervanck, a discharge culvert of water which communicates with the Channel of Mussel-Aa in the east of Musselkanaal. This junction makes it possible to bring water of the IJsselmeer when the water level of the channels of Westerwolde is too low.
At the end of the 20th century, the first projects transfer the day to arrange the Channel of Mussel-Aa and to open it with the pleasure. These projects were not carried out yet, contrary to what was made for the Canal of Ruiten-Aa. Nowadays, the channel is only opened with the Canoë S.
