Channel of Lo

The Channel of Lo or Lovaart is a channel of Belgium in province of Western Flanders. The channel connects the town of Furnes to the Yser on the level of the village of Lo.

The channel makes approximately 14 km length. It was dug at the 12th century for navigation. It was used before as plug to control the level of Yser. For that, a stopping had been built in the hamlet of Fintele. One opened the lock of the stopping in the event of believed of Yser to allow water to pass.
