Channel of Jonage
The Canal of Jonage is a derivation of the the Rhone built to feed the hydro-electric factory of Cusset with Villeurbanne, like ensuring the continuity of the navigation upstream of Lyon. It constitutes the prototype of later hydro-electric installations of the Rhone.
It is built thanks to a dam with hillside on the communes of Jonage, Meyzieu, Décines-Charpieu Vaulx-in-Vellum and Villeurbanne (department of the Rhone - 69).
It is punctuated by two locks, of which a double with Cusset. The other is upstream, in Jons. their gauge is of 105 m out of 16. The length of the channel is of 19 km.
In its medium, the dam deviates from the hill to create the Réservoir of Large-Broad the which controls the volume of water downstream and constitutes concerning the factory of Cusset.
